Wonderland Magazine “Park Hotel are making disco cool again… The hottest new band out there”
Dancing About Architecture “The groove is timeless, disco meets upbeat funk-soul but they dress these iconic sounds in upscale, modern electronica that is so slick, so now, so cool, that it hurts.”
Colorising “Park Hotel will make you move… a magnificent debut track”
Park Hotel are a post-electronic dance band based in London. Centred on the duo of Tim Abbey and Rebeca Marcos-Rosa. They explore the mirrorball-noir territory between alternative arena electronica and wired downtown songwriting. Their metropolitan disco-rock studio incarnation expands into a steamroller six piece neo-funk band live, featuring three way vocal harmonies, two guitars, drums, percussion, keyboards and ample cowbell. Park Hotel first entered a recording studio in 2016 to work with producer Eliot James on two tracks 'Gone As A Friend' and 'Going West', handing them over for mixing to Nathan Boddy and mastering at New York's Sterling Sound. After playing a series of feverishly received under the radar London shows in Autumn 2016 and a SOLD OUT debut single lauch at the Lexington this Febuary, the band are ready to go public with their second release 'Going West' June 2017.
Mixmag UK “The antithesis of paint-by-numbers dance music… Freefalling is an end-of-night anthem, 9/10”
Fabio De Luca, RBMA / Rolling Stone “Full Moon: a fine slice of nu-italo which can proudly stand next to old classics like Funky Family or Gaz Nevada”
Latin percussion, delicately layered synths, vibrant attire. Soaring pop choruses, a wash of melancholy guitar and a string of singles that could have been long-lost gems from disco’s heyday: Berlin’s Private Agenda are bridging a gap between the classic and contemporary sounds of electronic music
Having tastefully crafted their kaleidoscopic sound on a diet of obscure disco divas (Linda Di Franco, anybody?), the complete recordings of Compass Point studios and the hits of the 80s New Wave in the slightly ironic surroundings of a bleak German winter, their debut single, Déjà Vu quickly found a natural home on Mark Barrott’s acclaimed Balearic imprint, International Feel. Released in to much acclaim, Déjà Vu / Freefalling premiered on BBC1xtra, before being awarded a 9/10 review in Mixmag (UK). The vinyl sold out in a matter of weeks.
After a live debut at Berlin’s Prince Charles nightclub, follow-up single Paralysed (which included a remix from The leading house DJ, Gerd Janson) premiered on BBC Radio 1 before becoming Disco Single of the Month in Mixmag Germany and DJ Mag Italy’s Disco ‘Money Shot’. Soon after the band would host their own club night series at one of Berlin’s leading clubs, Farbferseher before launching their own label, Nightshift of the same name.
With a string of remixes and releases dropping for labels as varied as Mark Jones’ iconic Wall of Sound to the exclusive, vinyl-only Tusk Wax, Private Agenda have swiftly proven just as comfortable in the depths of Berlin’s underground as amongst pop’s leading lights on commercial radio.
Full Moon ( which included a remix from Andy Butler of Hercules and Love Affair fame) was released in the Summer of 2016, premiering on Benji B’s BBC Radio 1 show, garnering praise from heavy weights in the dance underground. A brief UK tour followed in October 2016, with the band entering the studio to complete their debut LP.
The band have just completed a European tour with Parcels (Kitsune) and will release their next single, Tender on Royal Athlete on May 17th.
